Essential Guide to Opening and Closing an Expandable Police Baton

This guide is designed to provide essential instructions for the safe and effective use of an expandable baton. It is crucial for our customers to familiarize themselves with these guidelines to ensure compliance with legal standards and to prevent unintended harm or damage.

Safety and Legal Compliance

Jake Special disclaims any liability for bodily harm or material damage due to improper use of this baton. It’s imperative to operate the baton within the bounds of local law, and to avoid deploying it in the direction of a person unless absolutely necessary.

Extreme caution is advised, as strikes to sensitive areas such as the head, neck, or vital organs can be severely injurious or even fatal.

To Open your Expandable Baton

  1. Grip the expandable baton firmly by its handle.
  2. Swiftly flick the baton downwards, horizontally, or slightly upwards to extend and lock it securely. The faster the extension, the more secure the lock, though it may become more difficult to retract.
  3. Ensure that the baton is securely locked in its extended position. If it feels loose, repeat the opening motion with more force.

To Close your Expandable Baton

Tap the tip of the expandable baton lightly on a solid surface to release the locked tubes.

When collapsing the baton, hold it lightly between your thumb and forefinger, directing it perpendicularly towards the ground.

A quick vertical motion against a hard, flat surface is more effective than using force.

Attention

Be aware that closing the baton may damage the surface used. Soft or elastic surfaces like wood or carpet won’t unlock the tubes effectively. Keep the baton free from dirt, and ensure the tubes are clean before retracting.

Do not close the baton without its spring guide cap, as this can cause surface damage.

Tips for Difficult Closures

If you find it difficult to retract the expandable baton, consider adjusting the spring tension as detailed in the manufacturer’s instructions. Applying graphite to the contact areas can also facilitate smoother closure.
